Here at Music Authentic, we could always enjoy the very best of meeting international artists and getting to know a bit more them. Just recently, a new, emerging artist – full of life, energy and compassion – caught our attention. More and more I read about him I found captivating the positivity and the hard work he has been doing. Now, his new international single is coming out, so, it was high time to talk longer. Let’s meet Ruensito!

And while you are at it, listen and watch his “Me Corono”!

Music Authentic: Welcome to our site! Let us begin with a site-traditional question: How did you sleep last night?

Ruensito: Ufff, I slept like someone who is working on 10 different projects at a time, so I slept but didn’t really rest!

Music Authentic: You seem to have an amazing life, travelling the world around and radiating all the joy and light. How did you come up with this idea to be a global-citizen?

Ruensito: My love for traveling started when I was in high school: I was travelling with the national volleyball team around México. Years after I became a member of the debate team in my university and I started traveling around the world and met so many people. Since then I GOT OBSESSED and aim always for the discovering of new places, new cultures and new people.

Music Authentic: I’m sure you have so many life-enriching, amazing stories, meeting people, being part of events, discovering pristine Nature. Can you recall one which defined or redefined your life afterwards?

Ruensito: Oh, I have so many stories! But I think the one that touched me the most was when I volunteered in Morocco. I have always felt a very close connection working with kids so I decided to travel there and teach English. Sharing about my culture with kids who were in real need was an experience – on a totally different level for me. It’s such a joy to see these little boys and girls just excited to be living in the world even in the conditions of extreme poverty they live in. It just makes you realize how every choice you make every day can affect the world around you, and that there is a lot we can do for others even doing as little as I did.

Music Authentic: How have the worldwide changes affected your life?

Ruensito: Well, you know I am a very social person and I need to go out and travel and meet people. So, at first in the quarantine and social distancing, I kinda suffered because I can’t stay in one place for too long; it’s just who I am, I need to keep moving. But then, once understood there was nothing we could do, it actually changed me but for good. I learned how to work on myself and this is when the real “follow your dreams” mantra came to my life. Doing music was always a dream of mine, but it wasn’t ‘till the lockdown that I actually decided to pursue music, to pursue my dream.

Music Authentic: As I know, you’ve travelled and lived in 46 countries up until now. What did you experience, people are like they were before or there is a visible shift to be more self-aware and conscious, saying “no” to the consumption, finding inner values and connections more important?

Ruensito: People are products of their environments, even if we all crave that “connection” with others. I have seen some people change, become more aware of our human situation, that we all live in the same world and we must help each other. But unfortunately, I have also seen the ones who still don’t realize that we are all connected and that we must say no to certain things. In the new world after all this happening around us, we all have to change if we want to survive!

Music Authentic: Your music video “Me Corono” is full of delight and playful cheekiness. Where does your bright spirit come from?

Ruensito: Thank you, that’s exactly what we wanted it to be and try to reflect who I am. I’m lucky to be a glass half-full kind of person, even if I have my dark moments. No matter what happens, I have hope and life has shown me that it usually works out when you expect the best. But I’m also lucky to be surrounded by amazing people in my life.

Music Authentic: After living in so many places, what do you think the largest differences are?

Ruensito: Between societies, we have more similitudes than differences. That’s it. Simple.

Music Authentic: North-Africa lacks the peace and democracy of Europe and according to the media, your homeland is also pretty much divided. As a world-traveller, as an artist, as a human what do you find the greatest challenges are all around?

Ruensito: I’m not into politics but I am a proponent of personal freedom and the right to be an individual of course. Who you are and what you do should not be dictated by any kind of societal rules; as long as you’re not hurting anyone. I also believe that every human has the right to have a decent job, a decent healthcare and a place to live – and this should be provided by the government. Unfortunately, humans are greedy, and the people are not always treated fairly by their governments. That’s why we need artists, film makers, singers and influencers, people who are free enough to speak up and tell the truth, to show the real face of society.

Music Authentic: Most probably things and life will try to return to “normal” soon enough. Do you feel at least in a few aspects humanity can learn and improve, providing a safer and cleaner environment from now on?

Ruensito: We can’t go back to “normal”! It doesn’t exist anymore. I think we will have a new reality to deal with, otherwise humanity won’t be able to make it. The new normal will have to be much better than what we’ve been doing so far. But don’t forget that people can’t do this on their own, we need the big corporations to stop polluting so much and to stop being so greedy!

Music Authentic: Speaking of: how do you see your life later, in a few years from now on?

Ruensito: I’m sure I will still be dancing in a pool somewhere, ha-ha. But, no seriously, I really want to grow my brand and my business in a way that makes me proud. I hope I can remain as this positive human being, full of energy and always looking to spice up my life, no matter the edge.

(the interview continues below the photos, so be brave and read on!)

Music Authentic: One needs to walk the extra miles for inventing and creating something unique and lasting. Writing a novel, collaborating with fellow artists, blogging about it in an engaging way require a great deal of self-discipline. What other characteristics are necessary for someone trying to follow your footsteps?

Ruensito: That’s it exactly, they must keep trying and never give up. When you see one successful project, it means there have been 20 before it that didn’t succeed! So keep trying, keep creating, keep sharing what you have to offer to the world, and eventually the world will listen.

Music Authentic: There has been an ongoing debate between artists and industry leaders whether to have quantity over ripened age concept albums, to be favoured by algorithms and curators. Which side are you one?

Ruensito: I honestly don’t take any side… For me this is not about how many people listen to my music it’s about me doing music for whoever wants to hear it.

Music Authentic: Now let’s have a little fun idea I like playing around with: Would you rather live in the Earth in 20 years or be the part of the first Mars colony?

Ruensito: I will go to Mars, bring my equipment and shoot a music video over there… Pfff – picture it!

Music Authentic: And which superhero would you rather be?

Ruensito: I think I would come up with my very own superhero! I don’t know which one though!

Music Authentic: Have you ever dreamed of being a chart-topper, winning Grammy’s and having your songs in mainstream series or movies?

Ruensito: If we don’t dream then how can we do anything, right? I dream about it day and night, I even have the speech ready!

Music Authentic: How can you break through the barriers of numbness, self-indulgence and ignorance, character traits of many 21st century men?

Ruensito: I think it’s becoming more acceptable to be self-involved because of the way our society has evolved since “online” services started. Dating, shopping, Facebook, they have all increased our self-indulgence. But if we stay in touch with reality I think it can be reversed. I think everyone should volunteer and get involved in helping others to remember the real world.

Music Authentic: We all have dreams. What things would be the greatest achievements for you through your art?

Ruensito: Self-satisfaction.

Music Authentic: Who are your favourites? Which artist do you recommend to listen to from the past or the contemporary era and why?

Ruensito: I’m a diva guy of the new era Beyonce, Rosalia, Shakira, JLO and Gaga. I love performances. But if I need to share something with the world it is my morning playlist! That’s the real deal: Wham, Roy Orbison, Lou Bega, Culture Club, Larry Williams, The Archies, Chubby Checker…

Music Authentic: There has been a social unrest against the establishment all around the world, and let’s be honest, for rightful reasons. Let’s play with the thought: If you were offered would you take the chance and become the President? What would you start the change with?

Ruensito: Imagine… “President Ruensito”. Dudeeee! I’d be like: dancing classes for everyone!

Music Authentic: Do you think artists and musicians will be replaced deemed to be obsolete due to Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence?

Ruensito: Nothing can replace human creativity, because it’s connected to our feelings and our mood shifts. It’s unpredictable. So, I don’t think we will be replaced by machines.

Music Authentic: Whose story had a great effect on your life?

Ruensito: Growing up in Mexico, I think that my family has had a great effect on my life and how I want to live it. We went through a lot of hardships, and I saw a lot of things that kids shouldn’t be exposed to. So, I think it has been a constant reminder for me and a push that I needed to keep going forward.

Music Authentic: How do you use your stage as a platform to help others?

Ruensito: Look, you can be anyone, and live anywhere, but you can still have the life you dreamed of. I want people to read my story and see that if I can do it, so can they. That’s why I’m sharing my life blog, that’s why I post on my Instagram, it’s to stay connected and in touch with as many people as possible and hopefully inspire them.

Music Authentic: What are the hardest challenges in society these days you believe the most crucial ones?

Ruensito: Love! Just love. Forget about race, religion, status and country of origin! Will we ever be able to do that?

Music Authentic: How do you like spending your free time?

Ruensito: When I’m not terrorizing my dogs with the Karaoke machine, I’m a big advocate of self-improvement, so I like taking lots of classes. I think it’s the best way to keep developing your talents. I also like a nice road trip to a hidden beach, with a nice camp fire and some good tacos.

Music Authentic: How does it feel to work with an artist from a different country, different culture?

Ruensito: It is actually so cool. I love sharing my culture trough music in Lebanon. As much as I love learning from theirs.

Music Authentic: What is your songwriting approach?

Ruensito: I just recently started writing songs, so I’m kinda new. But for the new single I’m working on, I collaborated with the producers on the writing of the song. We had a story to tell so it made it easier once it was the time to write it.

Music Authentic: You have a new song coming out; can you tell us what that is about?

Ruensito: YES! It’s about a guy who recently realized he was being cheated on, and went through all the phases and emotions of the discovery. From anger to forgiveness, the song is a complete journey of emotions.

Music Authentic: How did you come up with that idea?

Ruensito: It was actually something that we improvised on the spot. We had the beat and the melody and 2 verses of the song that were the ones that La kate studio presented to me to pitch the idea. Then when we finally sat together to work on it, the rest of the song came on its own.

Music Authentic: Do you like using autotune?

Ruensito: Yup, I like it 

Music Authentic: What new music can we expect from you in the future more collaborations or more solo?

Ruensito: Both! And for the music, I want to experiment with it, a bit of urban mixed with ballads, and Arabic touch. There will be a bit of everything, you’ll see.

Music Authentic: And finally, what is your message to encourage others?

Ruensito: Believe in yourself, and give it your best shot every single day. And if today isn’t good, then you have tomorrow to start over, so don’t despair. Go out there, and just live your life.
