Nadia Vaeh is an interesting pop singer-songwriter has just released another song and concept music video, called “Leap of Faith”. We arranged to talk about artistry, the changes in life and how to find again the inner strength and roots. Whether you are a fan or a fellow musician this interview might give you some positive vibes for the day.
Are you brave enough to read on? đ
And while you are at it, listen to “Leap of Faith” by Nadia Vaeh, it’s a good one!
Music Authentic: Welcome to Music Authentic! Letâs begin with our site-traditional question: How did you sleep last night?
Nadia Vaeh: Haha! Right off the bat, a unique question đ this is gunna be fun!!! So last night, I slept deep but not long enough lol. I should have gotten to bed earlier but got lost in a songâŠ
Music Authentic: Where is âhomeâ now? Atlanta, London? Your latest music video, âLeap of Faithâ tells the story of how you left Los AngelesâŠ
Nadia Vaeh: Home base is and will probably always be Atlanta, but Iâm just kinda floating around these days!!
Music Authentic: From all of your songs, this one again is very personal; others can find courage to do the same soul-treatment instead of being trapped in the treadmill of externalities. How challenging is it for you to be this open in âpopâ music?
Nadia Vaeh: Itâs really the only way I know how to write. Most of my music is a true reflection of where I was at mentally at the time. My earlier stuff, I was less connected to myself and more concerned with finding fulfillment through love and other external means. Now I feel like my mindset and as a result my work has shifted into a sort of knowing that I can find happiness anywhere if I can find peace within myself. Iâve been working on my first album (dropping in 2022 ;), and I dig in deep on all of my âcharacter flawsâ, as a way to work through and heal them through the writing and production process. Itâs a process and we are always growing if we make room for it! One of the many beautiful aspects of being a writer is having these songs as sort of time-stamps and reminders of the growth on the hard days. đ
Music Authentic: Your hit song, âAnxietyâ got into the Berlin film fest with its music video. âBoomerangâ, âNever Leave the Basementâ, âSpellbinding – all are also high concept visuals â neatly done. In an era when people have less and less attention span and seem to be unwilling to dive deep into artistry, you chose a more traditional approach of storytelling. Is it because of your dreams youâve always felt to live through?
Nadia Vaeh: I really love the creative process of telling a story through song and the ability to take the storytelling a bit further through music videos is so exhilarating! It takes the catharsis of creating these songs a step further. Especially with âAnxietyâ!! I got a lot out of my system on that shoot!!
Music Authentic: Your songs have a distinctive, unique tone; it feels each of them influenced by a certain sub-genre â and your storytelling makes them different. How do you find the right people for the right songs to work on with?
Nadia Vaeh: Thank you!! I am so lucky to have been able to grow and cultivate the team that I work with. The thread that bring all the songs together is me and my other half, Tyler Spratt. We work very closely on all the final details of each song and work with just a few producers that help us build the initial productions. To name a few of our favorite guys; Jesse Owenastin, Dion Shaw, and Andrew Gomez.
Music Authentic: Who is Nadia Vaeh today?
Nadia Vaeh: A strong, driven, loyal and empathetic woman who finally knows where sheâs going and exactly what she wants!
Music Authentic: Letâs have some fun: would you rather perform in the soon-to-be built Mars colony or in the Moon base?
Nadia Vaeh: I would say the Moon base, since itâs a shorter trip! Lol. Iâm no stranger to long travel days, but seven months is a long trip for one show! Also, my hippie side is like, it would be really cool to connect with mother moonđ€haha.
Music Authentic: Back to Earth: where would you like to sing the most? Glastonbury? Red Rocks? Rock in Rio?
Nadia Vaeh: Oh goshâŠall of the above lol. Red Rocks is absolutely a dream though since I lived in Denver for a bit. I also would love to perform at the Hollywood Bowl, a Summer Fest stage and a South X Southwest show. All bucket list performance experiences for sure!!
Music Authentic: Avril Lavigne, Dave Grohl and Pink call you the same day, whom of them would you rather collaborate with?
Nadia Vaeh: OH MY GOSH !!! This is an almost impossible question. Of the three though, I feel like Avril helped me through so much in 2006 /2007 with âKeep Holding Onâ, so I have to choose her based on that formative experience.. All are major influences on me though and if any one of them were to call me, it would be an instant, YES!!
Music Authentic: How hard is it these days to be heard? I mean, tens of thousands new songs are being released every day. It’s like shouting in a noise. How can one not be burnt out and dismayed after a while?
Nadia Vaeh: Itâs definitely really tough at times. I have found on the low days, I just need to rest and stay off of social media and just be present with myself or loved ones to avoid burnout and to keep the passion alive. I just try to stay focused on trusting that my songs will make their way into the ears of those who need them most.
Music Authentic: Whatâs the biggest lesson youâve learned in the music industry?
Nadia Vaeh: Kind of on theme with the previous question⊠Mental health is the most important aspect of creation. When your work is something you love and are so passionate about, it can be difficult to shut down âwork-modeâ. Iâve found it is vital to find balance or burn out can and will happen. Iâve experienced it and seen many of my peers go through it! I touch on this issue on the album too. (Out March 2022)
Music Authentic: Where will we see you next?
Nadia Vaeh: Iâll be touring the UK a bit in March and April of next year to promote the album and Iâll be continuing to hop around the States as much as possible while I finish up tracking and making artwork for these songs!!! Iâm so excited to share these songs with you!!!!
Music Authentic: Before we go, can you share an inspirational, encouraging message with your readers, fans, sympathizers?
Nadia Vaeh: Wake up everyday and love yourself through action. This action, is what will change your lifeđ€
Music Authentic: Thank you for taking the time! Canât wait to hear your new songs!
Nadia Vaeh: Thank you so much for the support and asking wonderful questionsđ
