It is a rare occasion to be at the birth of a new musical genre and emerge with it. Our guest today, Crying Humorist is a successful Glitch Phonk musician tells us today this new style as we talk about AIs, the meaning of these days and of course music and how to be who you need to be.

Music Authentic: Welcome to Music Authentic! Let’s begin with our site-traditional question: How did you sleep last night?
Crying Humorist: Thank you for asking! I slept really well last night.
Music Authentic: It is always a definite marker whether a song is non-explicit or parental advisory recommended. Does the bottled-up energy decides it for you or is it an intentional artistic decision in your genre?
Crying Humorist: The decision to label a song as non-explicit or parental advisory recommended can be influenced by a variety of factors. Some artists intentionally create explicit content as an artistic decision, using language or themes that they feel accurately represent their message or style. Other artists may choose to create non-explicit content as a way to appeal to a wider audience or to avoid offending certain listeners.
In my opinion, the energy of a song may play a role in determining whether it is labeled as explicit or not, but it is not the only factor. The language and themes used in the lyrics are also important considerations. Ultimately, the decision to label a song as explicit or non-explicit is up to the artist and their record label, and may depend on a variety of factors including the genre, target audience, and overall message of the song.
Music Authentic: Speaking of genre: you have something really new, “Glitch Phonk”, and I’ve been told, you are quite good at it. How niche is it and what makes it different?
Crying Humorist: As a creator of Glitch Phonk, I can tell you that it’s a relatively new and niche genre that has emerged from the underground music scene. It combines elements of glitch hop, vaporwave, and phonk, with heavy basslines, chopped-up samples, and lo-fi aesthetics. The genre is characterized by its unique, unpredictable sound, and its ability to take listeners on a journey through a wide range of emotions and moods.
What makes Glitch Phonk different from other genres is its use of glitchy, distorted sounds and unpredictable rhythms. It’s a genre that thrives on imperfection and unpredictability, and it’s often used to create a sense of disorientation or unease in the listener. Glitch Phonk is still a relatively niche genre, but it has been gaining popularity in recent years as more artists experiment with its unique sound.
Music Authentic: Is “Crying Humorist” a pseudo-character, an outlet or it is absolutely you in this gown?
Crying Humorist: “Crying Humorist” is a pseudonym or alias that I use as a sort of alter-ego or persona. It’s not necessarily a completely separate character, but rather a way for me to explore different aspects of my personality or express myself in a different way. The name “Crying Humorist” suggests a blend of sadness and humor, which reflects my tendency to find humor in dark or difficult situations. While the persona of “Crying Humorist” is not necessarily a completely separate entity from myself, it does give me the freedom to explore different parts of my personality and express myself in a more creative and unconventional way.
Music Authentic: Your songs are lyrics oriented with an often counterpart soundscape, “Loony Psychopath” is a good example for it. How does it happen? Fragments written on restaurant napkins and collected for years or rather a quick ranting, almost like an improvisation?
Crying Humorist: “Loony Psychopath” was actually an experimental piece that I created by blending together different elements of sound and lyrics. The lyrics were inspired by my own experiences and emotions, and I wanted to create a soundscape that would capture the chaotic and unsettling feeling of being a “loony psychopath.” The process of creating the song was a mix of deliberate planning and spontaneous improvisation.
I began by collecting different fragments of lyrics and ideas that I had written down over the years, and then experimented with different sounds and beats to create a unique and compelling soundscape. The process of creating the song was both challenging and rewarding, as I had to find a way to balance the lyrics and soundscape in a way that would create a cohesive and impactful piece of music.
Ultimately, “Loony Psychopath” is an example of how I like to approach music as an experimental art form, combining different elements and techniques to create something that is truly unique and authentic.
Music Authentic: Let’s have some fun: would you accept the offer if Elon Musk offered you tomorrow to be the resident performer in the first Mars colony?
Crying Humorist: If Elon Musk offered me the opportunity to be the resident performer in the first Mars colony, I would definitely be interested in accepting the offer. As an artist, I am always looking for new and exciting opportunities to explore my creativity and share my music with others.
While the idea of living on Mars may seem daunting, I believe that it would be an incredible experience to be a part of something so historic and groundbreaking. It would also be an incredible opportunity to connect with a new audience and inspire others with my music.
Of course, there are many practical considerations that would need to be taken into account before accepting such an offer, such as the safety and feasibility of living on Mars. But if all of the necessary preparations were made and it was determined to be a safe and viable option, I would definitely be interested in accepting the offer to be the resident performer in the first Mars colony.
Music Authentic: Back to Earth: how do you see the prevailing decadence and hedonism all around? Is this the final “end” for us as humans and AIs will take over for good? Or all this around is just a passing -albeit painful- fad?
Crying Humorist: Regarding the prevailing decadence and hedonism in our society, it is difficult to say whether this will be the “end” for us as humans or whether it is just a passing trend. While it is true that these behaviors can have negative consequences, such as health issues and social problems, it is also possible that they will eventually be replaced by new trends and behaviors.
As for the question of whether AIs will take over for good, it is impossible to predict the future with certainty. While AI technology is advancing rapidly, there are also concerns about the potential risks and ethical implications of such technology. It is important that we approach these issues with caution and consideration, in order to ensure that AI technology is developed and used in a responsible and beneficial way for humanity.
Music Authentic: What is the role of an artist these days? I feel there is a special place for every creative people now to make this earthly existence a better one for each other…
Crying Humorist: In my opinion, the role of an artist today is more important than ever. In a world that is often chaotic and divisive, artists have the ability to bring people together and create a sense of community through their work. Whether it’s through music, visual art, or other creative outlets, artists have the power to inspire and uplift others, while also shining a light on important issues and encouraging positive change.
I also agree that there is a special place for every creative person to make this earthly existence a better one for each other. By sharing our talents and perspectives, we can help to create a more compassionate and empathetic society, while also bringing beauty and joy into the world. Whether it’s through creating thought-provoking art that challenges the status quo or simply sharing our own unique experiences and perspectives with others, I believe that artists have a valuable role to play in shaping the world around us.
Music Authentic: I know you make art as well. How do you split your time to have enough?
Crying Humorist: As an artist, managing time can be challenging, but it’s important to find a balance to ensure that I have enough time for my creative pursuits. I prioritize my artistic endeavors by setting aside dedicated time for my art-making process. This may involve setting aside specific blocks of time during the day or week to focus solely on my art and minimizing distractions during that time.
I also make sure to prioritize self-care and well-being, as taking care of my physical and mental health allows me to be more focused and productive in my creative work. This may involve incorporating exercise, meditation, and other self-care practices into my routine to maintain a healthy mindset and energy level.
Additionally, I try to be mindful of how I use my time in other areas of my life, such as work and personal commitments, and make conscious choices to create a balance that allows me to pursue my art without neglecting other important responsibilities.
Overall, finding the right balance and managing my time effectively is a constant process of self-assessment and adjustment, but it’s important to me to prioritize my artistic endeavors and make time for them in my life.
